1. About the Service
1.1 Overview.
As part of Smart’s support for the UP Centennial celebrations, Smart is partnering with the UP Diliman College of Mass Communications to launch the UPiktyuran Na! with Smart: UP Centennial Smart MMS Photo Competition and Polling (UPiktyuran Na!).
The MMS Photo Competition aims to urge UP students, alumni, faculty and employees to share their own stories about their experiences in the university not through words but via photos taken using a camera phone, submitted through Smart’s MMS service and viewed over the Internet. Those who are not eligible to join the competition may take part through the Polling component, wherein they can vote for their favorite MMS photo entry as viewed in the web.
Smart would like to take part in honoring and marking UP’s Centennial celebration by launching a competition that vividly portrays the significance of the occasion and the meaning of being a part of the country’s premier university.
1.2 Duration.
UPiktyuran Na! shall be announced on June 21 and shall run for 100 days starting June 22, 2008 to September 29, 2008 for the MMS photo submission. Meanwhile, for the polling, subscribers have until October 3, 2008 to vote for their favorite MMS photo entries.
1.3 Theme.
MMS photo entries should communicate the participant’s story about UP experiences to illustrate what being part of UP and its Centennial celebration means to him/her. It must contain elements symbolic of UP – photos can show people, places, things, or moments, or combinations of these that best illustrates the theme. Some examples - - shots taken from within a UP campus or facility; shots that incorporate a well known UP landmark; image of a family all wearing UP t-shirts (showing how many generations have studied and graduated from the university); image of a person posing like the Oblation (because UP means freedom).
